Committee to direct Verian in development of
software solutions for Caterpillar dealerships.
Charlotte, NC – October 11, 2006 - Verian Technologies has announced the formation of a product steering committee composed of North American Caterpillar dealerships. This steering committee will be an integral part in driving enhancement of the software solution Verian provides to Caterpillar dealerships.
“We’ve been working with Caterpillar dealerships for the last 7 years to automate and improve their internal processes,” said Eric Blando, Manager of Verian’s Industrial Services Practice. “In that time, we’ve built out our solution to provide key integrations into other core business systems used by all Caterpillar dealerships such as DBS and CODA. The steering committee will provide a central voice for dealerships to direct how Verian should enhance its product for them.”
Verian has dedicated a portion of its annual research and development budget to be used at the discretion of the steering committee. Each Caterpillar dealership that is a Verian customer will have representation on this committee. The committee will meet four times a year to vote on product enhancements and elect officers.
“This steering committee will help ensure that Verian's enhancements to their Caterpillar product will provide real business value for all Caterpillar dealerships,” said Pat Walker, Vice President of Finance for Walker Machinery and charter member of the steering committee. “This is a rare opportunity to provide meaningful input in the build-out of a software product. Dedicating an R&D fund and answering to a customer committee for its disposition goes well beyond what other companies typically do to involve their customers in product development.”
